Hello dear wwoofer and thank you for your interest in our place Our farmer Maria has been a wwoofing at New Zealand, in Latinamerica and Europe for several years before she was employed at the school to run our farm. Learn to grow your own vegetables using the no-dig system. All of our food travel very few yards before it ends in our professionel kitchen preparing food for our 150 students and 30 employees. These methods make it possible to grow in harmony with the earth and even reestablish the fertility in the soil.  We seek people to help us with the garden. Examples of tasks: Vegetables: Seeding, planting, weeding, harvesting and packing everything for the kitchen, kicthen-tasks. Animals: Feeding the chickens, rabbits and collets eggs. In return you will get lessons in the organic and no-dig method, outside and in greenhouses. It is important to us that people have a true interest in self sufficiency and have a willingness to learn and work with young people (15 to 17 years) People with good spirit, positive attitude and of course an engagement in our place and the methods we use are more than welcome here. We are non-smokers and will prefer you are as well. We welcome vegetarians and vegans who come to learn, but you need to respect that we slaughter our own livestock and sometimes talk about it. You work 5 hours a day 5-6 days a week and have 1-2 day off. So there is plenty of time each day to get out and see the country. You can borrow one of our bikes. It is different what time of day you start, as it depends on the task you have to do. You have free wifi and a room in the house or in a tipi and five meals a day. Feel free to ask questions. Organic methods: We use the organic metode. Certifications: no, We dont sell our products When you are here. we try to get you involved both in the field and in the kitchen. so you both help produce the vegetables and the meat and help transform it into delicious food in the kitchen for the studens in the school. if you have the opportunity to be here 1-2 months or more, you will have the opportunity to try many of the skills, and see coherence in our place. Current projects: Making more no-dig beds https://www.instagram.com/kokkenepaahu/ https://youtu.be/2AOXadVEBow https://h-u.dk/efterskolelivet/skolen/sydvest/

My time in Himmerlands Efterskole was amazing! I felt very welcome from the first moment. Maria was managing the garden with competence, humor, and a lot of energy. The house for the wwoofers instantly felt like a home because I met wonderful people there. And we were welcomed to decorate the house a little bit as well. I enjoyed a beautiful and mostly sunny month in Syd Vest garden. I was able to contribute with my personal strengths and was invited to get involved in decisions/discussions in the garden team. Thanks to Maria everybody felt safe to speak their minds. She looked after everyone’s wellbeing while sharing her deep knowledge and experience with growing food. I was also invited to join Dennis and the kitchen team for a day and had a lot of fun baking sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls, and cake. The food of the canteen was always amazing! All of the staff were friendly and helpful when I approached them. The contact with the students was positive. Some were very open to give a tour of the school or just have a chat now and then. And of course we shared fulfilling garden experiences with the students who helped out at Syd Vest regularly. I recommend working here to everyone who's looking for likeminded people, having deep coffee/tea conversations, sweating in the greenhouse and finding something to smile about every day (:

My month in the garden at Himmerlands Boarding School was incredible. Maria is a very kind and welcoming person. She made me feel at home from the day I arrived. The days started early, but thanks to the great atmosphere with Maria and the other WWOOFers, work was always enjoyable. We took care of the garden and animals, planted and harvested vegetables, and contributed to the school's daily life. Although not all the ingredients came from the garden, the food was delicious, and I enjoyed every meal. The house where we stayed was very warm, and we even helped decorate it, which was a lot of fun. I hope to come back someday. Thank you for everything!

I had a wonderful experience at the school ! We made a lot of beds, seeding, weeding and planting. Our morning routine was to water the plants in the greenhouse and take care of the rabbits and chicken. The school facilities are incredible with gym, beach volley, cinema etc. We ate a lot of very delicious food every day thanks to the kitchen staff ! We worked on the field sometimes with the students and could participate at afternoon's activities ! (Football, arts, cooking...). Last but not least, this journey would not be the same without Maria and the others wwoofers ! We had a lovely team ! Thank you very much to Maria for her trust and her kindness ! See you !!!

I had a great time at the Himmerlands boarding school! Maria is a lovely and attentive host, and there was a good variety of tasks to do both on the farm and in the kitchen (we harvested a lot, planted seedlings, made the beds ready for winter). There were plenty of breaks and the food was great! The accommodation was in a WWOOFer house, which was lovely -- a good kitchen, cozy living room and comfy beds for sleeping. The other staff / teachers were friendly and open, though often the conversation would happen in Danish which sometimes made me feel a bit excluded.

Thank you for this wonderful week on your farm. We learnt a lot of things and the atmosphere was so nice. We played Ticket to ride, ate a lot of very typical Danish food and had fun with the students. We already want to come back...!

I loved my experience at Himmerlands Boarding School! I only got to spend a short time with the students since I was there during the October holidays, but from what I saw, the school’s atmosphere is amazing, with super nice teachers and students. I really enjoyed working in the garden, where there’s a great variety of vegetables. The tasks ranged from taking care of the animals to harvesting and preparing vegetables for the school kitchen, as well as doing different jobs to get the garden ready for winter. Maria is super friendly and welcoming, always happy to share her knowledge. The food and accommodation are of great quality. I wish I could have stayed longer and I’d go back without hesitation! :)
