The project and the place:
We work towards becoming self-suficcient and live with respect for nature. We live a slow life with time to our children and time to enjoy beautiful moments with people we like.
Our property is an very old small-scale farm in the beautiful countryside of Denmark. The farm is located in the edge of a aesthetic village close to nature and public transport.
We bought the property one year ago and moved our tinyhouse here in summer last year. We now live a simple life in our tinyhouse and slowly work on the farm to make it back to what it once was. The buildings here are from 1770 and very authentic looking, but everything here need a lot of love which we would like your help with. Also the garden and the field has a lot of charm, it however need strong hands and a lot of effort to live up to its potentials.
Very soon everything will start growing fast and it will soon be time to enjoy the fruits of this years hard work.
A little about us:
We are two open-minded and outgoing young people with a passion for sustainability, social interactions and the nature.
Morten is 34 years old and holds a degree in design engineering. Currently, he works in a company that develops building materials and furniture made from recycled and natural materials.
Mikala is 32 years old, educated school teacher and outdoor guide, and currently she is maintaining our farm and takes care of our 2 years old son, Roa. She is devoted to the simple life where resources and consumption align. She likes to be in our garden, and cook delicious meals of the vegetables we grow.
We are currently looking for volunteers who can help for a month or two in May/June.
Volunteering:
When volunteering at our place you will have a lot of flexibility. Sometimes we will work together and some time you will do smaller tasks on your own. When you contact us we will find out together what works for you, so you get to do the things you like for yourself, but also to give you the possibility to visit all the nice places and fun thinks to do while in Denmark.
You will be working independently on various tasks around the farm:
- preparing the soil for this years vegetable garden
- harvesting
- take care of the animals (chickens)
- maintaining the rent-out flat
- smaller construction projects
Some tasks we will do together and you will always have a thorough introduction to new tasks - we will be around to help.
Accommodation:
You will have a fully equipped private glamping tent on the farm. The tent has a big bed, a "living area and a terrace with a view over the fields. You will be waking up in the beautiful nature to the sight and sounds of birds and other wildlife.
You will also have a functional outdoor kitchen.
Around 2 days pr week we will eat dinner together and in the weekends we eat most meals together.
The place is located near one of Denmark UNESCO natural reserves. Outside the door there is trails and bike paths that will take you to old forests, glacial formations, historical monuments and the sea.
At the farm we have chickens and hens who walk around the field doing the day. They help us keep the soil healthy and provide us with eggs.
What we offer:
With us you will learn how to take care of the animals on the farm and to sow seeds, harvest and do weeding . You will also get to be a part of various DIY and construction projects. We build our own tiny house from scratch and will be more than happy tp share knowledge and ideas if you are also into tiny living and woodworking.
