Hello dear wwoofer and thank you for your interest in our lovely farm Stengården (The Stone Farm).  Stengården has been run by the Rasmussen family since 1997 and is now a very diverse organic-mekka in the region. Here we have 5 hectares (with over 100 kinds of vegetables), 3000 chickens, 50 grass-fed beef cattle, around 60 hectares of grain and clover, bee hives + our sweet and energetic dog Ronja and the barn cats. Everything we produce at the farm is sold either through our own organic supermarket and café or to catering/restaurants. We believe in biodiversity, nature-conservation and a self sufficient on-farm cycle. We don't use any external fertilizer, only the compost from our own animals and almost no external animal feed. That way we try our best to create a sustainable and high quality food-production. Coming here as a wwoofer, we will share our knowledge with you and give you a hands-on experience on how to run a small-scale farm with focus on giving you an understanding on how to grow vegetables.. The tasks at the farm vary from day to day and you'll get to experience lots of different and interesting things! Examples of tasks: Vegetables: Seeding, planting, weeding, harvesting and packing everything for the shop. The tasks depend on the season :) Animals: Feeding the cows, spreading straw in the cow barn or henhouse. The job changes throughout the season because the cows are only in the barn from around November - April. During the summer they are out grazing on pastures, and there is therefore no work with the cows during the summer months for the wwoofers. Wwoof schedule: Usually you'll help 5 days and have 2 days off, and since the farm shop is open all days of the week, the days off can be spread out onto any day of the week. We always start at 8am in the morning and have a coffee break at 10am. The day ends for the wwoofers by helping clean up after our communal lunch at 1pm. Accommodation: Located right above the farm shop we have an apartment just for the wwoofers, with 6 private rooms and a shared kitchen/living room and a shared bathroom. We have rooms for both singles and couples. It's a nice community space that the wwoofers help each other keep clean. You can have dinner together or play boardgames and it's a nice opportunity to get to know people from all over the world! Food: We provide the coffee break at 10am, with tea/coffee and bread with cheese or homemade jam. Lunch is at 1pm, usually with bread, eggs, potatoes and vegetables. Some meals, like dinner and lunch on your days off, you prepare yourself. You can take all basic vegetarian foods you need from our organic farm shop and of course all our delicious vegetables we grow at the farm! Wwoofers usually eat together, therefore it's important that if you decide to come here, you must be willing to help with cooking and cleaning! :) In the spare time there's tons to do! There are nice forrests nearby for a good run or a nice walk. There are two lakes close by, great for swimming in the summer. Copenhagen is 30min by s-train, and Farum or Birkerød are a 15min bike ride away. There you can find thrift shops/ grocery stores and much more.  The famous museum Louisiana is close by as well. We also have bikes that you can borrow :) We're very much looking forward to hearing from you! I had a lovely stay at Stengården for the 3.5 weeks I was here!! I learned so much, and met amazing people along the way. Definitely an experience that I would recommend! I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with everyone & being taught more about the specifics of working on an organic farm. The atmosphere was incredible, as was the environment. Thank you so much!

I had a wonderful experience here. The variety of tasks kept every day interesting, and I learned so many new skills. Sharing meals and coffee breaks with the team was such a lovely ritual, and the food—much of it from the farm—was just amazing. The accommodation was super cozy, and everyone on the farm was really friendly & welcoming from day one. I spent 3 three weeks here and I loved every moment. Thank you Otto & Elisabeth for giving me the opportunity to stay here. I feel very grateful for my time here and would highly recommend this place to anyone<3

The stay in Stengarden was amazing from the beginning until the end. Not only the area is perfect but also the farm is unique and beautiful. I found the work in here pretty easy and accessible so everyone could do it. The food here was amazing everyday and the other workers at the farm made the company even better. Of course, this would not be posible without Otto and Elisabeth’s kindness and open mindness! I would definitively recommend this experience to all wwoofers, especially for beginners ;)

I had such a lovely stay at Stengården! The farm has such a nice variety of produce & the shop is just beautiful. I enjoyed living there so very much & really had a fun time exploring around near the farm. Everyone was quite kind too, which is honestly so impressive considering they’ve been hosting woofers for something like 10 years. The apartment is super nice as well. I’d highly recommend working here!

I had an incredible time at Stengården. The tasks were diverse and I got to know so many new things e.g. planting on a planting machine. I really enjoyed the time with the whole farm team. They were so lovely and welcoming. Also, I really liked the shared meals during coffee and lunch break (certainly with food from the farm!). Such a beautiful ritual !

I had a really good experience living on the farm. The work was varied enough that it never got boring, even in the height of winter. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and I learned a lot which was one of my main goals in going there. Gaining an understanding of what it’s like to farm in Denmark during winter. The farm has a great atmosphere, and it’s very close to Copenhagen, which I visited frequently as I used to live there. The accommodation is warm and well-lit, making it a comfortable place to stay for a few weeks or even a few months, no matter the season. :)
