I really enjoyed my stay with Søren at Mariendal. He was so friendly and welcoming, and was kind enough to show me all parts of his farm (along his many side projects), and I even got a chance to learn more about the wine and spirits making process.
During the my stay, I appreciated that I got the chance to learn about real, but hardworking aspects of farming as well, getting opportunities to chip wood, cut weeds, mow, and even parts of house maintenance.
In addition, I was very well-fed with Søren being an excellent cook, and it was a very enjoyable experience talking and learning from him during our downtime.
The farm is located on a small island, and I really enjoyed that aspect of it as well, with a close knit community, where I cycled around during the weekends.
Would definitely recommend a visit, and thank you Søren for the opportunity.

My one-week stay was phenomenal. Søren is kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. The host family provides all meals, with traditional Danish cold plates for breakfast and lunch including cheese, bread, and herring. One evening, I had the chance to cook a delicious Kung Pao chicken dinner with Søren. I stayed in a spacious hundred-year-old loft with French windows. Daily tasks included pruning and planting potatoes and onions, averaging about five hours a day. Strynø is a beautiful island, perfect for exploring by bike. I highly recommend this unique and unforgettable experience.

For a first experience in woofing, I was lucky enough to have a very pleasant, cultured, funny and open-minded host. The welcome is warm. There is an apartment available and all meals are taken with the family. The work (about 5 hours a day) was varied and interesting.
It is an ideal place to recharge your batteries, because Søren is also a very good cook.
I highly recommend this farm.

Amazing volunteering opportunity for all levels of ability. Søren and his family are extremely welcoming, providing 3 meals a day as well as recommendations of local activities. We work from morning to afternoon then get free time to explore the island afterwards. Søren is friendly, hardworking, intelligent and has a nice sense of humour. Would definitely recommend this opportunity to anyone interested.

Søren was a very kind and caring host. "Nature at it's best" is the best way to describe that charming little island. And although the work at times was pretty hard, it was a very nice experience that I wouldn't want to have missed!

Coming to Strynø was a great experience for our whole family. It is a small island, where everybody greets you and you can observe the whole area on foot in one day.
On the farm, we worked at the vineyard and had a chance to learn about potatoes. The accommodation provided was quite big with beautiful views, especially during sunrise on sunny days. What would help it to be a bit cosier is the big cleanup. What surprised us on the second day of our stay was the information, that dinners and breakfasts will not be provided. We made an agreement around it in the end, as we had two days off, but suggest that this is communicated beforehand.
Søren is a friendly, charming and wise man with a great sense of humour. After all, we are going to miss the island and himself as well. Thank you for having us and all the vine we drank.
