Regenerative farm with hemp, vegetables and free range chicken on a small island
Zealand
WELLCOME TO PEACEFUL AND BEAUTYFUL FEMØ!
Note: For a longer stay, please write and ask.
Our regenerative hempfarm (CBD) is located on a beautiful small Island north of Lolland. There is only 120 people living here but many tourists in the summertime. To get here you take a small ferry and already on the ride you will feel the calmness.
ABOUT US
We are a rainbow family in the mid-fourtees, Christina and Mette – living with our 12-year old son Otto and the cocker spaniel, Elli. Christina works fulltime at the farm and Mette also works in Copenhagen.
ABOUT YOU
Your age doesn’t matter to us. What matters is that you’re a capable, self-reliant person who feels comfortable taking care of yourself in everyday life.
You’ll be staying outdoors in your own camper at our small nature-based campsite, so you should genuinely enjoy being outside and living close to nature. You should also be happy to do physical outdoor work and be comfortable working in all kinds of weather. Life here follows the seasons, and being flexible and positive about that is important.
ABOUT THE FARM
We started our small regenerative farm in 2022 with industrial hemp, chickens, and a small vegetable garden, and we are still very much in the process of building it up. This makes it a great opportunity to be part of a start-up farm rooted in regenerative principles.
Our main crop is industrial hemp, grown on about one acre. Everything is done by hand – from planting to harvesting – and the plants are used for our own CBD products.
In addition, we have ducks and around 100 free-range laying hens, which play an important role in our regenerative system. That said, they are not just “workers” – we genuinely love and care for them 😊
The work on the farm varies with the seasons and also depends on your skills and interests. There is always plenty to do: caring for soil and plants, looking after chickens, maintaining tents and outdoor areas, chopping wood, painting, and building various small projects. Life here is hands-on, varied, and closely connected to nature.
YOUR STAY
Because Femø is a very small and quiet island, it’s important that you are comfortable spending a lot of time on your own. You will have plenty of alone time here. We’re not able to integrate volunteers into our private daily routine, so your stay is quite independent. We do, however, work together during the day, and that’s when we spend time side by side.
You will prepare all your own meals. We provide food both from the farm and from the local grocery store, so you’ll have what you need, but cooking is entirely self-organised.
You’re welcome to come alone, as a couple, or with friends. Accommodation is in one of our two cozy campers. Both campers are nicely furnished and heated during the colder months. Each camper has one double bed, so if you come as two people, you will be sharing a bed with your travel companion.
The campers are located on a beautiful nature-based campsite with a covered outdoor kitchen, a grill, a fireplace, and shared outdoor areas. There is a shared composting toilet and a sun-heated outdoor shower.
Prepare yourself for a special nature experience. With no streetlights on the island, you’ll be able to experience true dark skies, and the dominant sounds are birdsong, wind, and the natural rhythms of the island.
A longer stay of up to five months can be arranged. Please write to us if you’re interested, and we can discuss the details.
We're excited to meet you

My experience at Christina’s farm was truly special. During the busy harvest season she guided me and the other volunteers through hemp cultivation with so much passion and patience. You can really feel her connection to nature and the rhythm of the seasons.
The sleeping space was spacious and comfortable and waking up in such a peaceful oasis was exactly what I needed. Even with lots of rain, spending time on this beautiful island was amazing.
Thank you, Christina for your kindness and openness. I’m grateful for the experience and would happily recommend volunteering here :)

Femø is one of the most lovely places I visited, even though it was “off” season. After work every day I walked around the island even if it was raining— it was just so beautiful and calming.
I came during the harvest so the work consisted of bringing in the plants from the field and trimming them, which was quite relaxed as well. The days went by quickly too as there was always company around, whether it was other wwoofers or Christina’s friends and neighbors. I really enjoyed talking to everyone while we worked.
The outdoor campsite could get pretty cold and rainy this late in the year, so cooking and eating outside was a bit of a struggle, but very pleasant when we had sun. The stars were also a highlight of Femø - I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so many. I would highly recommend this place which I found to be a good mix of community and solo time. Christina was a caring and funny host. I hope to return in the summer one day. Tak!

Christina is a lovely person who takes good care of the people that come to work on her farm. The sleeping place, kitchen, shower and food were all great and the work was fun, partly because Femø is such a gorgeous island. I miss the island already and I would recommend anyone to come help out on the farm.

We had an incredible time at Høns & Hamp. Christina and Mette are smart, kind, funny, and intelligent people who run a VERY cool farm. Christina is endlessly knowledgeable about hemp, how to farm it, its uses, and the policies surrounding its cultivation, as well as the policies surrounding small farms in Denmark in general. We stayed in awesome camper vans and cooked in the outdoor kitchen, sometimes making our dinner over the fire pit. Taking a bike ride to the beach after a day of work was not bad, either. A typical workday included feeding the chickens, tending to the veggie garden, or working on the latest building project. Femø is a beautiful island with interesting history and plenty to do. If you are there in the summer you may catch the women's camp, the jazz festival, or a harbor party. It honestly felt like a dream helping farm on this magical island and we left with new ideas and knowledge!

My time here was so great, I can't say enough good things about it! Christina and Mette are so welcoming. The accommodations are comfortable, and the WOOFFers get their own private space. There were 5 woofers there during my time; we all cooked together and ate around the campfire each night. I learned so much during my time, and Christina fosters a space to share knowledge and learn from each other. There is a great work/free time balance, so you have plenty of time to explore the island. And if you visit during the summer, there is so much happening on the island!
