CURRENT UPDATE:
Since we had a cancellation for July, we are currently looking for someone.
Welcome to the family farm Agerupgård on the beautiful island of Samsø.
The farm:
Agerupgård is a farm built in 1911. It used to be a large agricultural farm with many hectars of land and animals.
Since 25 years it has not been used for that purpose anymore, but there is still a lot of produce coming from the garden, where many fruit and nut trees have been planted.
Since we moved here in 2022 we use the fruits for ourselves, for the guests of our B&B and we sell a little bit through our small roadside shop.
We have a 2 hectar garden, small forest, 15 chickens, 5 sheep, a cat, a greenhouse (tomatoes, cucumbers, wine...), many fruit trees (plum, apple, cherry, peach, mirabelle, mulberry, fig), berries, walnut trees, raised beds for vegetables and many old trees, bushes and flowers.
Who are we:
We are Hannah and Johann with our 4 year old son Bo. We took over the farm and B&B in 2022 and brought a printmaking studio, a sound studio and our love for organizing creative workshops for children and adults. We run an artist in residency program, childrens art club, open printmaking studio and occasionally concerts on the farm. We are artists ourselves. Johann is educated as a printmaker and Hannah as social worker and installation artist.
When speaking about farming and gardening, "learning by doing" is our Motto. We are not professional farmers. We both grew up with kitchen gardens and fruit trees, but we are not professionals. We love working with plants and animals, take care of the old buildings, make firewoodand so on. We think it could be even more fun and make the work lighter, if we share it with helpers.
Work:
- harvest and preserve vegetables, fruits and nuts
- help build small hedges, chicken or sheep fences
- cut trees and bushes
- collect wood
- make firewood
- build or move a compost
- take care of chickens and sheep
- take care and water plants
- place produce in the little roadside shop
- make marmelades and other products from the garden
- juice apples
- mowe the lawn
- assist in the printmaking workshop or during other workshops (rarely)
