Family farm on the island of Samsø
Central Jutland
CURRENT UPDATE: For 2026 we hope to welcome wwoofers for a longer period of time, minimum 4 weeks.
Welcome to the family farm Agerupgård on the beautiful island of Samsø.
The farm:
Agerupgård is a farm built in 1911. It used to be a large agricultural farm with many hectars of land and animals.
Since 25 years it has not been used for that purpose anymore, but there is still a lot of produce coming from the garden, where many fruit and nut trees have been planted.
Since we moved here in 2022 we use the fruits for ourselves, for the guests of our B&B and we sell a little bit through our small roadside shop.
We have a 2 hectar garden, small forest, 15 chickens, 5 sheep, a cat, a greenhouse (tomatoes, cucumbers, wine...), many fruit trees (plum, apple, cherry, peach, mirabelle, mulberry, fig), berries, walnut trees, raised beds for vegetables and many old trees, bushes and flowers.
Who are we:
We are Hannah and Johann with our 4 year old son Bo. We took over the farm and B&B in 2022 and brought a printmaking studio, a sound studio and our love for organizing creative workshops for children and adults. We run an artist in residency program, childrens art club, open printmaking studio and occasionally concerts on the farm. We are artists ourselves. Johann is educated as a printmaker and Hannah as social worker and installation artist.
When speaking about farming and gardening, "learning by doing" is our Motto. We are not professional farmers. We both grew up with kitchen gardens and fruit trees, but we are not professionals. We love working with plants and animals, take care of the old buildings, make firewoodand so on. We think it could be even more fun and make the work lighter, if we share it with helpers.
Work:
- harvest and preserve vegetables, fruits and nuts
- help build small hedges, chicken or sheep fences
- cut trees and bushes
- collect wood
- make firewood
- build or move a compost
- take care of chickens and sheep
- take care and water plants
- place produce in the little roadside shop
- make marmelades and other products from the garden
- juice apples
- mowe the lawn
- assist in the printmaking workshop or during other workshops (rarely)
What could a day look like at Agerupgård:
9.00 - 09.30 Breakfast (individual)
10.00 -12.30 Work together or individually on different task
12.30-13.30 Lunch break (individual)

Accomodation and length of stay:

We offer accomodation and food for approx. 4-5 hours of work per day.
During the warm months you can stay in a tent or camper (with mattresses) , in the cold months in one of our guest rooms.
Please make sure you have travel and work insurance.
Food: You will mainly take care of your own meals in the campingkitchen in the barn. We provide basic ingredients. Extras you can get at the supermarked in the next town 5km from the farm. We share dinners twice a week, usually on mondays and thursdays, where we share the cooking.
Other infos:

Enjoy the fantastic nature on Samsø, beautiful beaches, delicious local produce and good company.
We are looking forward to meet you!

We had a wonderful time WWOOFing at Agerupgaard! Hannah and Johan were friendly, welcoming and supportive hosts, who made us feel at home during our stay. We did a range of jobs across the property, including caring for the animals, harvesting fruit, clearing and cutting grass, trimming hedges and weeding.
We also had the opportunity to explore Samsø by bike (which they loaned us for our stay). It is such a lovely island and we really enjoyed our time here, would love to come back!

I had a wonderful time with Hannah, Johann and Bo! They're lovely people and their property is absolutely beautiful, with lots of opportunities for different tasks. Hannah was very accommodating and frequently checked in about how I was feeling about the work and if there was anything I wanted to do/learn specifically. I felt lucky getting to work alongside her!
I enjoyed the setup (staying in a camper and taking care of some of my own meals), because it offered the opportunity to have some solo time. Staying with a family can be quite "intense," but this setup combined the best of both worlds. The family was super welcoming and I really enjoyed the conversations we had, but it was great to have a little zone to retire to and process all the impressions on beautiful Samso. There was a bike, which made exploring the island super convenient. Hannah also gave lots of tips!
I would really recommend staying with Hannah, Johann and Bo! They're a super warm, interesting family and the space they're creating is quite magical.

My WWOOF experience at Agerupgaard with Hannah and Johann was SO amazing!! I wish I could have stayed a whole summer with them on Samsø, the island and the vibes heal the soul :))! Hannah was so friendly and relaxed, so I felt comfortable from the start! The work was interesting and not too hard, I picked LOTS of berries, fed chickens, weeded, and did other bits and bobs around the farm! I also got to help with some very cool unique or artistic tasks like tie dying some socks and attempting to process some wool! I also got to see some artists working in the printmaking workshop, which was very inspiring. In my off hours (especially on hot days) I went straight to Sælvigbugten beach, which was such pristine and quiet place. Otherwise, I used their bike to explore the island and places recommended to me by Hannah :)). The camper is comfortable, and the kitchen has what you need, so it was cozy! The fresh organic produce from Agerupgaard and the nearby Ydun’s Have can’t be beaten! I can’t recommend Agerupgaard enough, I am leaving feeling happy and inspired, and I hope to return one day! ☺️

We had the best week at Agerupgaard! Hannah and Johann were the kindest hosts and people. The work was well-instructed, light and fun; we harvested many berries, we used the scythe and other tools to cut down all sorts of plants, and we moved both sheep and chickens to new places.
Our stay was also so much more than the work. Hannah recommended many things in the area, so we went on many trips after work, and both Samsø and Agerupgaard is definitely worth a visit. Hannah and Johann gave a good insight into the island life and their inspiring way of living.
We really recommend this to everyone, there’s really not one bad thing to say about Agerupgaard and its amazing owners.

I spent 6 days at Agerupgaard with Hannah and Johann in August and really enjoyed the time. It was already clear beforehand that they wouldn't have so much time because of visitors and that I would mainly be working independently, which was totally fine with me. I just made friends with the chickens and sheep :) Hannah and Johann are very nice and approachable people and I always enjoyed our short conversations and encounters.
I was able to organise my working hours freely. My tasks mainly consisted of weeding nettles, cutting back brambles and, the highlight, moving the sheep to a new pasture, which was really fun. And, of course, harvesting fruit (apples, figs, tomatoes, cucumbers).
The farm is very welcoming. I was able to stay in a caravan on the edge of the farm, had my own composting toilet and there was a lovely improvised kitchen in the barn where I could cater for myself. I was also allowed to borrow a bike to explore the island of Samsoe. Thank you for everything and the wonderful time with you!
All the best to you,
Veronika

We had the most delightful time at Agerupgaard! Hannah and Johann were so warm and generous and the work was very varied and fun. Lots of picking berries and fruit, and we did some clearing out of nettles and brambles and we also got to help out with the sheep and chickens which was fun! They were running some workshops while we were there that we were lucky enough to get to help out in and we had such a great time. The whole farm is so creative and beautiful and the island is delightful to ride around and explore. We miss it all so much!
