Please note: we are fully booked in September and into October 2025 We are a family of four from Denmark and Germany who have travelled the world for close to 20 years. Merging our international life with another lifelong dream became a reality in late 2020 when we moved to our Danish farm, which is a typical 4-sided farm, with an inner courtyard, and nestled between fields, forests and meadows. From our place, you will barely see a light at night, yet we live just 1.5km from a small town with various facilities. Staying with us, you would have your own, separate apartment complete with kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom with two beds. The living room also has a large sleeping couch with room for two. We offer to have dinners together and we will provide you with what you need for other meals. All of our meals are home-cooked from organic or biodynamic sources and we are happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan or other dietary restrictions. We try to keep our place smoke-free, and therefore cannot host smokers. There are many tasks, you could take part in, depending on the season and your skills, wishes and ambitions. We would prefer to work out the details individually and are quite flexible with time. One thing, a bit out of the ordinary perhaps for an organic farm is that we would love to have a website made. If you are the one who can help with this, please reach out. Farmwise, to give you an indication: We have sheep, ducks and chicken to care for. Fences to maintain or set up. Old rubbish to be removed from the old growth forest and hedges. Woodwork (anything from frames for vegetables, to new barn doors), masonry, refreshing painted surfaces and more. Grass is cut, hay is made, wood is cut and made to firewood, chips made, and animals need to be moved around. In Spring and Summer much time is spent on planning and tending the growing vegetable gardens where Karen has various beds, a greenhouse and a straw bale garden. In Autumn, we prepare for the Winter and the next season. We are working towards establishing several hectares of nuts, berries and fruit trees during 2025/2026. Children are welcome, provided they are respectful and NOT fearful of dogs (this would apply to adults too ☺️). All our fields are currently pasture, save 8 Ha (app 20 acres) which we have returned to forest and lakes. We are integrating ideas from regenerative, organic and biodynamic agriculture, perma-poly culture as well as agroforestry. Educated foresters, Karen works mostly at the farm and homeschools our youngest, occasionally fitting in pottery, abstract painting and other creative pursuits, while Tim works on adaptation to climate change internationally (though he mostly works from home). Our son and daughter (born 2007 and 2011) help along but also focus on their education and other activities (horse riding, volley ball, singing, guitar/ukulele, tennis and more). Supporting characters are our two big dogs (Kenyan shepherds) and our queen-cat Sunshine. Our town has a well stocked grocery store, an indoor swimming pool and mini-waterworld, as well as soccer, tennis and padel courts and a train station. In biking distance, you will find 650 Ha of state forest (2km) Hastrup skov, which connects with Tinnet Krat and the springs of two of Denmarks rivers flowing West and East respectively (7km); Rørbæk Sø (10km) with hiking trails and canoeing trips of a day or more on a gentle river and lake-system; Harrild Hede & Nørlund Plantage (15km) with 3000 Ha of heather landscapes and forests easily accessed by bike and hiking paths. Denmark has incredibly good access to all state-owned nature areas, and some private estates, with excellent paths and signage. Other places of interest within a 30 min drive include: Økolariet (also 30 min train ride) - https://www.okolariet.dk/en Legoland - https://www.legoland.dk/en/ Lalandia Day trip - https://www.lalandia.dk/en/billund Deep Forest Art Land - https://www.deepforestartland.dk/en/ Jelling Home of the Viking Kings - https://en.natmus.dk/museums-and-palaces/kongernes-jelling-home-of-the-viking-kings/ We are happy to provide bikes during your stay and to take you on some excursions. The train station just 1.5km away gives access to larger cities (Vejle & Herning 30 mins, Århus & Odense 1.5-2 hours and Copenhagen 2.5 hours). * DEUTSCH * DANSK * FRANCAIS

Karen and her family were incredible, gracious, knowledgeable and friendly hosts! We truly enjoyed WWOOFing on their beautiful farm and homestead and learned a great deal about biodynamic farming methods, raising sheep, native forest restoration and how to live in harmony with nature in a modern way. The apartment we had while working there was also wonderful and beyond all expectations. The week we were there went by entirely too fast. ;) We enjoyed working each day with Karen and our dinners together were memorable. We would return in a heartbeat!

We had a wonderful first wwoof experience with Karen and her family. They were incredibly welcoming and kind. Karen’s farm is beautiful and we learned so much from her. We enjoyed spending time with all the animals, harvesting potatoes, and making compost. The dinners were always delicious and fresh and the conversations were always enriching. She was very helpful with recommending day trips for us to take and helping us get around to explore Denmark. We highly recommend wwoofing with Karen, it is an amazing experience!

I spent 10 amazing days with Karen and her family. I recommend it 100%! The farm is beautiful, the apartment for the WWOOFers is incredible, and the work is very varied (from 9:00 to 13:00, 6 days a week). Karen is fantastic and, without even trying, she transmits her passion for the land and the animals. She is very inspiring and always ready to explain whatever you need or want to know. In the evenings, you are invited to have dinner with the family if you like – something I really recommend. They are a very loving, polite, interesting, fun, generous, and open-minded family. I would love to come back at some point. 🌸

Educational. Enriching. Wholesome. Staying with Karen and her family felt like a full circle experience. Beyond the daily tasks, I was able to add so much knowledge to my ever-hungry basket. The level of care Karen shows towards all beings is truly remarkable. On a practical note, I worked from 9 to 1, Monday through Saturday. During my stay, weeding was my main task. I also sowed seeds, spread straw over the ground, watered the greenhouse, cared for the wonderful animals, and carried out a variety of other tasks I’m sure I’ve forgotten to list. I was fortunate to share the apartment with Patricia, a Spanish wwoofer, who made my stay even more enjoyable. “Every experience is an experience.” Thank you, Karen, Tim, Thor-Bjørn, Freya (and Noula, Chino, and Sunshine), for reminding me that compassion and goodness are never out of fashion.

We are two friends who decided to spend almost a week on Karen's farm. We had an incredible time! It was our first experience living and working on a farm, and it was an unforgettable adventure! We learned so much! Everyday was filled with new activities that taught us the value of farm work and life in close contact with nature. Beyond the practical skills, we truly felt welcomed like family. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and we finally understood the true meaning of the Danish word hygge—that special sense of coziness and well-being that only a unique place can offer. A huge thank you to our hosts for guiding us through this experience and making us feel part of their world. We highly recommend this to anyone looking to challenge themselves, learn something new, and immerse themselves in an authentic and welcoming environment.

We spent an unforgettable week at Karen’s in early October and highly recommend it to future WWOOFers! Karen is an exceptional host, passionate about sharing her knowledge on regenerative agriculture, farming, and much more. Her dedication to revitalizing her fields and meadows is truly inspiring. Our days began with fulfilling tasks from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., such as weeding, harvesting vegetables, animal care, and ground maintenance. Afternoons varied between additional tasks or free time, giving us a chance to hike and explore the beautiful surroundings. We also enjoyed playing volleyball with Karen and her family. Meals were another special aspect of our stay. We had breakfast and lunch in our cozy flat, while dinner was shared with Karen and her family. These evenings were filled with delicious food and lively conversations. Karen, Tim, and their family were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and generous. Karen’s warmth and dedication to her animals and land left a lasting impression. She went out of her way to ensure our stay was enjoyable and enriching. This week was full of learning, sharing, and discovery. Thank you, Karen, Tim, and family, for your hospitality. We wish you great success in your projects!
