Organic Orchard, busy with establishing permaculture to get a healthy balance on our land
North Denmark
Apple harvest starts now.
Hi, we are a Dutch family living our dream in North jutland. We are busy to blow new life in the orchard we bought in the beginning of 2023. My husband and I have 3 young children, a dog, an outdoor cat, rabbits, chickens, running ducks, 4 goats and some bee's.
Since we bought our old not very well maintained orchard 2 years ago, there's always something to do. Cutting and planting trees, taking care of the vegetable garden, berries, animals, harvesting, mowing the land..
Breakfast (8.30 am) takes place when the children are awake and not always together, lunchtime (between 12 and 1 pm) is mostly a cooked meal and for dinner (around 6pm) we eat bread. We have a nice caravan for our guests.
I like to work in the kitchen and we love to be outside. The children are mostly where we are, love to help with everything and learn about daily life, nature and farming. We live close to the sea 2,4km). A supermarket is also close by.

May 2026

Bonne continuation !

Lovely staying at the orchard with Roel & Wiebke and their children. A glimspe of what we did : Weeding in the strawberry's beds, collecting wood for the Benjes's hedges, preparing the new chicklets's house and of course, driving the quad. Under the eyes of the goats, ducks, dogs and cats !
I had a really good time !
Thank you !! Tak !

November 2025
I was at the farm for about 10 day in de middle of November. I had a nice stay there and the communication was really easy. You always knew what to do and you got the tools you needed for the tasks. The meals were delicious and shared all together.
Their children are also really nice and the oldest one is always helping with work.
I really enjoyed my stay there.
Thank you Wiebke and Roul :)

August 2025
I've been at Baksminde Ökogarden in the first week of August and I'm glad I did it although I could have stayed only for a couple of days. The host family are quiet brave people, who invest a lot of energy and love into their property, especially the old apple orchard, where they just partly replaced the old trees with young ones.
So two other wwofers and I have been involved in some harvesting of some early ripening sorts and we also did a lot of weeding in the vegetable garden, what was a pleasure to do at such a beautyfull green and quiet place.
I also felt warmly welcome at the family's table, where "real life" with the three small and lovely children is never boring ;) and where we tasted delicious self made marmelade and bread.
We slept in two cute older caravans near the garden in some distance to the house, what I personally found a good solution for the family-situation, because it offered the opportunity for retreatfor both "sides" if needed.
The highlight during our stay was a smallfolk and bluegrass garden- concert ... Wiebke and Roel invited some neighbours, people from the village and other known ones to visit and to show their place and listen to some really good musicians.
I am thankfull for those interesting days and I highly recommend their smallholding for everybody, who wants to experience what it means to build up self sufficiency for a whole family.

August 2025
I was warmly welcomed on the Baksminde farm by Wiebke and Roel and their three kids.
During my stay I mainly helped with cutting grass, removing dead apple trees, and harvesting apples (plus cuddling the family dog). As Wiebke and Roel are still working on building their farm business, there is a good variety of things to do. The kids are fun, and especially the oldest enjoyed helping with whatever there was to do.
The two caravans for the WWOOFers are located close to the orchard, so in the evening both the family and the guests can have some privacy. There is also a separate toilet for the guests.
After work I spent time at the beach in Asaa and took a nice canoe tour in Voersa, which Roel helped us book.
Thanks for the nice stay!
