Welcome to Our Permaculture Community!
We are a small, family-oriented community of six adults and five children, living in the heart of nature on 9 hectares of land. Our home is surrounded by forests, a vegetable garden, and a nature-protected landscape, where we strive to live simply and sustainably, following permacultural values.
Our community is made up of:
🌿 Ilina, a nursing student, and Magnus, a chef training to become an electrician and a gardening enthusiast, along with their two children, Vega (4 years) and Loui (2 years).
🌿 Vera, a language teacher and beekeeper, and her son Birk (2nd grader).
🌿 Morten, an educator and gardening enthusiast, and Lily, a language teacher and yoga instructor, with their daughter Klara (3 years) and newborn baby.
🌿 Zhenya, a mathematician and dedicated sheep caretaker.
We grow vegetables, keep chickens, and manage a small flock of sheep, who help maintain the land. In summer, we aim to be as self-sufficient as possible with food. We are vegetarians and deeply value a close connection to nature, working together to take care of the land through sustainable forestry, gardening, and animal care.
If you’re looking to experience community living, permaculture, and a simple life in nature, we’d love to welcome you!
Experience Farming & Sustainable Living with Us!
As a WWOOFer in our community, you'll get hands-on experience in gardening, forestry, animal care, and food preservation, all while living in harmony with nature. Our farming activities vary with the seasons, and there’s always something to do!
Typical Farming Activities
🌱 Gardening – Weeding, fertilizing, making seedlings, planting out vegetables, and maintaining our permaculture garden.
🛠️ Fencing & Maintenance – Helping with fence repairs to keep our sheep safe and clearing out shrubs.
🔥 Firewood & Land Management – Chopping wood and managing the forest for self-sufficient heating.
🐑 Sheep Care (Seasonal) – Cleaning out manure, shearing in spring and early autumn.
🐝 Beekeeping (Spring/Summer) – Helping Vera with the bees and learning about natural honey production.
🍓 Harvest & Food Preservation (Summer/Late Summer) – Picking berries, preserving food for the colder months.
A Typical Day as a WWOOFer
🕘 9:00 AM – Start your workday (unless you prefer to start later). One of us will explain the day’s task, and then you’ll work independently unless supervision is needed.
🍽️ Breaks & Lunch – You plan your own breaks and lunch whenever you like. You work for approximately 5 hours.
☀️ Afternoon – Your time is free to relax, explore nature, or enjoy a swim in the lake.
🥗 Evening – On weekdays, we share a community dinner around 6 PM.
You are off on weekends, unless we have one of our common working weekends, then you will be off on weekdays instead.
Many of our daily tasks involve physical labor, such as digging, lifting, chopping wood, or fencing. While no special experience is required, we appreciate volunteers who are willing and able to engage in hands-on, active work. That said, we encourage everyone to work at their own pace and listen to their body.
We love to share our knowledge of permaculture, self-sufficiency, and traditional skills, and we welcome WWOOFers who are eager to learn and contribute. If you're interested in sustainable living, nature, and community life, we'd love to have you join us!
We offer a private cabin for our WWOOFers, providing a cozy and comfortable space to relax after a day of work. We prefer hosting volunteers in pairs (couples or friends), but you will never share your accommodation with a stranger.
Your Cabin
🏡 Private space – A small, charming cabin just for you.
🛏️ Flexible sleeping arrangements – Two beds that can be set up separately or as a double, doubling as a sofa/relaxing space during the day.
☕ Tea kitchen & running water – You can prepare breakfast in your cabin at your own pace.
Meals & Food Arrangements
🥣 Breakfast & Lunch – You are free to plan and prepare these meals yourself in your cabin or in our outdoor kitchen, so they fit into your daily rhythm.
🍽️ Dinner – On weekdays, we eat dinner together as a community around 6 PM.
🥗 Vegetarian Food – We provide three meals a day, all vegetarian, using as much homegrown produce as possible.
As we all have a work-life-family balance to manage, we do not eat common dinners on weekends. During the weekends, you’ll prepare your own meals. We will provide you with a food budget and assist with grocery shopping to ensure you have everything you need.
Our setup allows for both independence and shared meals, balancing personal space with community living. We love good food and appreciate volunteers who enjoy cooking, sharing meals, and experiencing our simple, sustainable way of life!
